Accountants often used category codes or account IDs in order to simplify the organization of their chart of accounts.
Each line item in your Chart of Accounts is called a Category, and you can choose whether or not you want to show numbered codes in addition to category names. It’s easy to set up!
- Open the More menu and select Preferences.
- Under Accounting preferences select an option from the Show Category codes dropdown: Don’t show, Show code or Show code and subcode.
- Save your preferences.
Now, your category codes will show up in your chart of accounts and financial reports–just like that.
