Accountants often used category codes or account IDs in order to simplify the organization of their chart of accounts.

Each line item in your Chart of Accounts is called a Category, and you can choose whether or not you want to show numbered codes in addition to category names. It’s easy to set up!

  1. Open the More menu and select Preferences.
  2. Under Accounting preferences select an option from the Show Category codes dropdown: Don’t show, Show code or Show code and subcode.
  3. Save your preferences.

Now, your category codes will show up in your chart of accounts and financial reports–just like that.
